“Our son, Corey has been served by Independence Association for sixteen years. We are very grateful that he has had the opportunity to do as much as he wants in our community; which brings him joy and happiness. Corey volunteers at a local hospital, swims at the Bath YMCA, goes on long walks at Bowdoin College, the bike path, or local parks. This is all made possible because of the support from the wonderful staff that provides assistance with all of his daily living and communication needs. The help that we receive from Independence Association gives us a peace of mind that comes with knowing that our son Corey is well cared for, and that is priceless.” –Rachel Bernier

In 2015 Corey received the James Pierce “building bridges” award. The award is presented to the individual who exemplifies qualities of independence, self advocacy, community involvement, and overcoming any barriers that limit community inclusion. Everyone at Independence Association is grateful for Corey’s contributions to our community as a volunteer and advocate. He inspires all of us. Thank you, Corey
